The Hawaii Community Development Authority (HCDA) consists of 18 voting members, 13 of whom vote on issues related to Kaka'ako and Kalaeloa, and five of whom vote only on Kalaeloa matters.  The members are:

KAKA'AKO (13 members)

Ex-Officio Members (State of Hawaii department heads)

  • Director of Finance
  • Director of Business, Economic Development & Tourism
  • Comptroller
  • Director of Transportation

Staggered 4-year Terms

  • 4 at-large members appointed by the Governor
  • 3 members appointed by the Governor from a list of prospective appointees recommmended by the City Council
  • 2 members appointed by the Governor from a list of prospective appointees recommended by the Senate President and Speaker of the House

  • Chairperson of the Hawaiian Homes Commission
  • Director of the City and County of Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting

Staggered 4-year Terms

  • 2 members representing the surrounding community, one of which shall be selected by the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, and one of which shall be appointed by the Governor
  • 1 member appointed by the Governor who is a Hawaiian Cultural Specialist

**The Kalaeloa members shall be considered in determining quorum and majority only on issues relating to Kalaeloa and may vote only on issues relating to Kalaeloa.

Bar

The Authority meets every first Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. unless otherwise stated.  The meetings usually take place in HCDA's Kaka'ako office at 677 Ala Moana Blvd., Suite 1000 Conference Room.

Keola Lai at 600 Queen Street
A&B Kakaako LLC (A&B) developed this mixed-use residential/commercial high-rise complex at 600 Queen Street. The project is located on a 2.7-acre site at the intersection of Queen and South Streets and is diagonally across from the recently completed Honolulu Fire Department Headquarters.
