Kewalo Basin Harbor and Park Improvements

In August 1995, HCDA completed the construction of harbor and park improvements at Kewalo Basin.  The project was done to support and enhance the conomic vitality of the Basin, which serves as the home port for excursion, commercial fishing and chater sport fishing boats.  Improvements included:  a new signalized intersection at Ala Moana Boulevard; segregated bus loading/unloading areas;; a new centralized parking area and a revamped vehicular circulation system.  These improvements greatly enhanced the cpacity of the basin to efficiently handle traffic flow, enhanced safety and accessibility for park users and Kewalo Basin boaters and visitors.  A continous pedestrian promenade was also constructed along the harbor front, while extensive new landscaping was added along Ala Moana Boulevard.

Honolulu Fire Department Headquarters Complex
The City and County recently completed construction on a new $12.7 million Headquarters Complex for the Honolulu Fire Department on 1.603 acres of land at the intersection of Queen and South Streets.
