Thirty acres of passive recreational park space built on a former landfill site. Includes contoured rolling landscaped mounds, a scenic pedestrian promenade spanning the length of the park, comfort stations and picnic areas, five oceanfront observation areas, a community amphitheater, and two protected water access points
Opened in November 1992, the Kaka'ako Waterfront Park--developed on what was once a massive landfill mound on the seaward reach of the Kaka'ako Peninsula-- is unlike any of Hawaii's parks. The park's 30 acres consists of contoured, rolling landscaped mounds, a breathtaking pedestrian promenade with comfort stations and picnic areas, an amphitheater, and a observation area that contributes to the public's enjoyment fo the spectacular views. The 20-feet wide promenade runs the entire length of the park, linking five oceanfront observation areas.
