Opened in November 1992, the Kaka'ako Waterfront Park--developed on what was once a massive landfill mound on the seaward reach of the Kaka'ako Peninsula-- is unlike any of Hawaii's parks.  The park's 30 acres consists of contoured, rolling landscaped mounds, a breathtaking pedestrian promenade with comfort stations and picnic areas, an amphitheater, and a observation area that contributes to the public's enjoyment fo the spectacular views.  The 20-feet wide promenade runs the entire length of the park, linking five oceanfront observation areas.
