City Public Works Project Occurring on Kapiolani Blvd. and Kamakee Street
Kapiolani Water and Sewer System Improvements Project.
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply and the City and County of Honolulu have started construction work on the Kapiolani Water and Sewer System Improvements Project that is partially in the Kaka'ako Community Development District. Existing water and sewer mains are being replaced and rehabilitated along Kapiolani Boulevard, between Ward Avenue and Kalakaua Avenue, Atkinson Drive, Kamakee Street, and Kalakaua Avenue, between Kapiolani Boulevard and the Ala Wai Canal Bridge.

After a hiatus for the holidays, the water and sewer line project along Kapi'olani Boulevard will resume Sunday, January 14, 2007.
One lane in each direction of Kapi'olani Boulevard between Pensacola and Kamake'e streets will be closed 24 hours a day during the work. There also will be temporary lane closures on Kapi'olani Boulevard between Ward Avenue and Kamake'e Street and along Kamake'e Street .
The project was suspended for two months during the holiday season. Construction work is expected to be completed in 2008.
