Honuakaha, located at 545 Queen Street next to the historic Royal Brewery structure, includes 243 affordable housing units, 150 of which are rental apartments for seniors and 93 condominiums. Developed through the partnership of the Hawaii Community Development Authority (HCDA) and First Hawaiian Bank, which contributed 99 percent of the equity for the senior housing component of the project, Honuakaha is an eight-story, low-rise complex. Each of the fully-furnished studio and one-bedroom rental apartments—ranging in size from 325 to 515 square feet—has its own bedroom furniture, kitchen appliances, dining table, chairs, emergency call system, and air-conditioning. The 93 fee simple studio and one-bedroom condominiums located in the same building range in size from 510 to 675 square feet and were initially priced from $158,000 to $187,000 when the units were first marketed. As a component of the Honuakaha complex, the Royal Brewery structure was rehabilitated to include five stories of newly constructed loft space. For more information, call (808) 522-7919.
