HIGHLIGHTS OF OCTOBER 3, 2007 HCDA MEETING
Following is a summary of actions taken at the October 3, 2007 regular
meeting of the Hawaii Community Development Authority (HCDA).
Consent to Assignment of Lease for the John Dominis Site
Authority members authorized the HCDA Interim Executive Director to consent to the assignment of lease for the John Dominis restaurant site in Kaka’ako Makai from Basin Project Inc. to Ocean Investments, LLC. Ocean Investments LLC is a newly formed corporation that is acquiring Basin’s leasehold interest and may decide to redevelop the property in the future. Any redevelopment would require HCDA’s consent as landlord. Ocean Investments has acknowledged that any future development may subject the tenant to Waterfront Association dues and also to review by the Kaka’ako Makai Community Planning Advisory Council (CPAC).
Funding Approved for Kaka’ako Makai Community Planning Advisory Council (CPAC)
HCDA members authorized the HCDA Interim Executive Director to contract with the University of Hawaii Spark M. Matsunaga Institute for Peace and to expend up to $52,800 for facilitation services for CPAC. For Phase II of the Kaka’ako Makai planning process, facilitators will lead the meetings; assist with meeting logistics; generate meeting notices, agendas and summaries; and maintain an email contact list for the group. Additionally, the facilitators will assist CPAC in conducting educational sessions on Kaka’ako Makai’s background and history, relating to land use constraints and opportunities and previous plans for the area, and maintain an effective interface with HCDA.
